What To Bring (And What To Leave At Home)

Please make sure all belongings of the children are labeled clearly.

Your child will need:

One school bag big enough to fit their belongings and that is easy to open. A hat for outside time. Play clothes please. We recommend that children dress as simply as possible in clothing they can manage independently. Play here can be messy so old clothes are best. Please include a spare set of clothes for ‘accidents’. Appropriate footwear. Due to climbing, running etc, gumboots, thongs and slippery soled shoes can be dangerous. A warm coat in winter. We have ducted heating in our Preschool so it is best if the children are not overdressed for the cold, but bring a warm coat for outside time. A piece of fruit for morning tea  (or cheese, dried fruit or vegetables). Water is provided by the Preschool. A packed lunch with a drink. We aim to encourage healthy eating habits and would appreciate the children bringing only healthy food for lunch (no lollies please).  If your child has a yogurt or something similar, please pack a freezer pack that will keep the food cold.

Make sure you say goodbye when leaving your child in the morning – even if they become upset.

Treasures from home

Toys from home can get lost or broken at Preschool, so it saves a lot of upsets if these are left at home. The same applies to jewellery and trinkets. Security toys maybe appropriate if children are experiencing separation anxiety.

Birthdays

Children may celebrate birthdays at Preschool by bringing a simple cake or enough little cakes for the class. Please let the teachers know beforehand as there may be a child who may have food allergies.

Nut & Egg Products

Due to the potential risk that nut and egg products can cause some children we have devised a policy on ‘no nut or egg products’ in children’s lunch boxes. This includes peanut butter sandwiches, nutella, peanut muesli bars and nuts, boiled eggs and egg sandwiches.
